Viva Energy beats HY profit forecast
Newly-listed oil refiner and retailer Viva Energy's half-year net profit has beaten its prospectus forecast on the back of inventory gains and higher oil prices.

SYDNEY [AAP] - Newly-listed oil refiner and retailer Viva Energy's (ASX: VEA) half-year net profit has beaten its prospectus forecast on the back of inventory gains and higher oil prices.
The company's historical cost profit for the six months to June 30 was $144.6 million, surpassing the $112.3 million forecast when it floated on the ASX in July.
Viva Energy's revenue for the period was $8.61 billion, also passing its prospectus by $573.4 million.
