This month, I've spent some time talking to experts in their fields.

Over my career, I've had a few jobs working with financial advisers. Financial advisers have many touchpoints - at asset management firms, at software companies, at tax advice and planning firms, lawyers to help with estate planning. The list goes on.

One of the underappreciated benefits from financial advisers are that they are a conduit to all of the different parts of your financial wellbeing and health. It would be impossible for them to be an expert across all of these fields - so they have colleagues and professionals that specialise to take care of each of each part of financial planning. It is the adviser's job to ensure that they are across all areas and that the sum of the parts makes sense as a whole.

For self-advised investors, the situation is not much different. They likely outsource several parts of the financial planning process. The most common are estate planning and taxation. It is still important for investors to take the initiative to understand why decisions are being made for them by these professionals. This month, I've focused on garnering insights from experts to form the basis of these understandings and help investors to ask the right questions when they outsource.

I've also had a few lookbacks at how earnings season unfolded, and some opportunities that arose.
