ASX set to open higher, after US stocks finished higher, powered by tech.
Australia
Australian shares are set to open higher, after US stocks finished higher, powered by tech.
ASX futures were 0.88% or 74 points as of 9:00am on Friday, suggesting a higher open.
US stocks ended higher, with the Dow industrials up more than 460 points, powered by gains at Salesforce and International Business Machines.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.1%, trailed by the S&P 500, which rose 0.5%. The Nasdaq Composite ticked up less than 0.1%.
In commodity markets, Brent crude oil was up 1.9% to US$74.22 a barrel, while gold was up 0.7% to US$2,670.0665.11.
The Australian dollar was at 65.11 US cents, up from its previous close of 65.04.
Asia
Chinese shares closed higher. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.1% to 3,370.40, and the Shenzhen Composite Index added 0.1% to 2,039.01.
Hong Kong shares ended lower. The benchmark Hang Seng Index lost 0.5% to 19,601.11.
Japanese shares closed lower. The Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.9% to 38,026.17.
India shares ended lower. The BSE SENSEX dropped 0.5% to 77,155.79.
Europe
Stocks in the U.K. finished higher. The FTSE 100 Index gained 0.8% to 8,149.27.
In Europe, shares closed higher. Germany's DAX increased 0.7% to 19,146.17, and France's CAC 40 rose 0.2% to 7,213.32.
North America
U.S. stocks ended mixed. The DJIA added 1.1% to 43,870.35, the S&P 500 gained 0.5% to 5,948.71, and the Nasdaq was flat at 18,972.42.
Among S&P 500 companies, the top three gainers were Super Micro Computer Inc, surging 15.12%, Amentum Holdings Inc jumped 10.66%, and Deere & Co lifted 8.05%.
The biggest decliners were Alphabet Inc which dropped 4.73%, Alphabet Inc fell 4.56%, and TransDigm Group Inc lost 4.14%.
