ASX set to open lower, after US stocks finished the week mixed.
Australia
Australian shares are set to open lower, after US stocks finished the day mixed on Friday.
ASX futures were down 0.47% or 39 points as of 8:00am on Monday, suggesting a lower open.
US stocks ended narrowly mixed as concerns about softer spending by lower-income customers dragged down consumer-goods stocks such as Nike and Coca-Cola.
Broadcom's shares climbed 24% after it reported that revenue from its artificial-intelligence business more than tripled.
Healthcare insurers, including UnitedHealth, recovered some from losses from earlier in the week tied to concerns about increased regulation of the industry.
DJIA fell 86 points, or 0.2%, to 43,828, the S&P 500 lost a fraction of a point to 6,051, while the Nasdaq rose 0.1% to 19,926.
In commodity markets, Brent crude oil was up 1.47% to US$74.49 a barrel, while gold was down 1.21% to US$2,648.23.
The Australian dollar was at 63.61 US cents.
Asia
Chinese shares closed lower. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 2.0% to 3,391.88, and the Shenzhen Composite Index fell 2.0% to 2,070.42.
Hong Kong shares ended lower. The benchmark Hang Seng Index dropped 2.1% to 19,971.24.
Japanese shares closed lower. The Nikkei Stock Average slipped 1.0% to 39,470.44.
India shares ended higher. The BSE SENSEX rose 1.0% to 82,133.12.
Europe
Stocks in the U.K. finished lower. The FTSE 100 Index lost 0.1% to 8,300.33.
In Europe, shares closed lower. Germany's DAX fell 0.1% to 20,405.92, and France's CAC 40 dropped 0.2% to 7,409.57.
North America
US stocks ended mixed. The DJIA slipped 0.2% to 43,828.06, the S&P 500 was unchanged at 6,051.09, and the Nasdaq added 0.1% to 19,926.72.
Among S&P 500 companies, the top three gainers were Broadcom Inc AVGO, surging 24.44%, Lamb Weston Holdings Inc LW jumped 6.82%, and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc WBA lifted 6.68%.
The biggest decliners were Airbnb Inc ABNB which dropped 4.77%, Nucor Corp NUE fell 4.66%, and CoStar Group Inc CSGP lost 4.09%.
