Australian shares are set to open higher, after Wall St finished mixed ahead of Nvidia results.
ASX futures were up 0.33% or 28 points as of 8:30am on Thursday, suggesting a lower open.
US stock indexes ended mixed as investors awaited results from AI chip lead Nvidia after the close.
Super Micro Computer shares rose 12% after the server maker filed overdue financial statements.
Tesla dropped 4% after its market capitalization fell below $1 trillion on Tuesday.
Consumer staples lost over 1.5%, while information technology stocks gained the most among S&P 500 sectors.
Oil prices edged lower, while gold prices rose.
DJIA slipped 188 points, or 0.4%, to 43,433, while the S&P 500 was little changed at 5,956 and the Nasdaq rose 0.3% to 19,075.
In commodity markets, Brent crude oil was down 0.38% to US$72.74 a barrel, while gold was up 0.11% to US$2,918.23.
The Australian dollar was at 63.01 US cents, down from its previous close of 63.42.
Asia
Chinese shares closed higher. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 1% to 3,380.21, and the Shenzhen Composite Index gained 1.1% to 2,097.14.
Hong Kong shares ended higher. The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 3.3% to 23,787.93.
Japanese shares closed lower. The Nikkei Stock Average declined 0.2% to 38,142.37.
India shares ended higher. The BSE SENSEX increased 0.2% to 74,602.12.
Europe
Stocks in the U.K. finished higher. The FTSE 100 Index gained 0.7% to 8,731.46.
In Europe, shares closed higher. Germany's DAX rose 1.7% to 22,794.11, and France's CAC 40 increased 1.2% to 8,143.92.
North America
U.S. stocks ended mixed. The DJIA fell 0.4% to 43,433.12, the S&P 500 was unchanged at 5,956.06, and the Nasdaq gained 0.3% to 19,075.26.
Among S&P 500 companies, the top three gainers were Axon Enterprise Inc AXON surging 15.25%, Intuit Inc INTU jumped 12.58%, and Super Micro Computer Inc SMCI lifted 12.23%.
The biggest decliners were Centene Corp CNC which dropped 7.22%, Molina Healthcare Inc MOH fell 6.95%, and Keysight Technologies Inc KEYS lost 6.86%.
